ANA RODRÍGUEZ QUESADA
Ana Rodríguez Quesada earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry at Granada University and completed her PhD in Biochemistry at Málaga University. After a postdoctoral stay in UK and USA, she joined to the R&D department of the company Antibióticos S.A. (León), where she began to work in drug discovery, task that she maintained in the research department of Pharmacia-Antibióticos Farma (Madrid). After a seven years experience in pharmaceutical companies R&D, she joined to the department of Molecular Biology and Biochemistry at Málaga University, where she is now Full Professor. Her main research topic in the last fifteen years has been related to the search and characterization of new drugs, mainly new inhibitors of angiogenesis. Her CV shows more than one hundred contributions regarding to this subject, in terms of scientific articles, books, book chapters and patent applications. Her research is carried out in collaboration with other groups from pharmaceutical companies and universities. She is also scientific responsible of the Cell Culture Laboratory of the SCAI facilities at the University of Málaga
MIGUEL ÁNGEL MEDINA TORRES
Miguel Ángel Medina Torres earned his Bachelor’s Degree (1985) and his PhD (1989) in Biology at Málaga University. Postdoctoral fellow of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation at Heidelberg's University and at the Max Planck Institut for Biophysical Chemistry (Göttingen, Germany), he was also a visitor researcher at McGill University (Montreal, Canada) and at the Max Planck Institut für Ernhärungsphysiologie (Dortmund, Germany). He has been previously Assistant and Associate Professor at the Department of Molecular Biology and Biochemistry at Málaga University, where he is now Full Professor. His CV shows more than 150 published research works (most of them in international journals) and several patent applications, as well as more than 50 published educative and/or divulging works.
Graduate (Granada, 1979) and Doctor in Biology (Malaga, 1982). Professor in Animal Biology of the University of Málaga (UMA), and head of the research group “Cardiovascular Development and Angiogenesis” (CTS-488). Main research interests: Cellular and molecular mechanisms regulating cardiovascular development and angiogenesis, embryonic origin of the vascular and hematopoietic progenitors, epithelium-mesenchyme transitions and relationships between development and evolution of the cardiovascular system. Author of more than 100 papers and book chapters on these issues. Vice-Dean in charge of research of the Faculty of Science (1997-2004), President of the Committee on Scientific Research of the I and II strategic plan of the UMA, and coordinator, since 2006, of the Master in Cell and Molecular Biology of the UMA. Scientific responsible of the Flow Citometry and Cell Sorting Lab from the UMA Central Services for Research Support.
ÁNGEL LUIS GARCÍA PONCE
Ángel Luis García Ponce earned his Bachelor’s Degree and PhD in Chemistry Sciences at Malaga University. After his first stage of ten years in different research centres in Spain, Belgium and USA, he started a career of more than fifteen years in private companies. In 2002, he got an MBA at Darden School (Virginia University, USA) and an Executive Master for Technological Enterprising in 2009. During his business stage, he has been engaged to different technical activities as Planning, Production, Quality, R+D projects management, among others. All along he has supervised cross-functional teams, and he has been responsible for the formation and motivation of human resources. He has published some articles in specialised scientific journals and has participated as lecturer in different national and international work-shops
